Mission: Alameda Point Collaborative is a supportive housing community that uses all its resource to help families and adults break the cycle of poverty and homelessness. Direct beneficiaries per year: 500 residents, including 300 children Geographic areas served: Alameda County, CA Programs: The Alameda Point Collaborative was created to provide meaningful housing to homeless families throughout the East Bay. APC has transformed vacant housing at a decommissioned Naval Air Station into a supportive housing community serving 500 homeless residents of Alameda County. Housing that once enabled military families to stay close to their loved ones, now enables homeless families to reunite and stay together. Residents are provided with the safety and stability of a place to live combined with life skills and job skills training, advocacy to connect with services, and emotional support all with the ultimate goal of breaking the cycle of homelessness and getting the support needed to be able to lead a stable, productive life. APC Residents include survivors of domestic violence, adults and children with disabilities (including substance abuse, mental illness, and HIV/AIDS), and veterans and their families. The diversity of our community reflects the face of homelessness in Alameda County: 60% of our residents are African American, 21% are Native American, 8% are White, Hispanic and Latino make up 6%, Asian American and Pacific Islander are another 5%. More than half of our residents (280) are youth ages 18 and under, and they receive special attention and support as we help them overcome generational cycles of domestic violence, substance abuse and homelessness to fulfill their right to be raised in a healthy, nurturing family.

Mission: ACES identifies individuals in need through its case workers who share information and work to actualize services or develop skills that enable individuals and families to return to a regular and acceptable standard of living. Incorporated in 1998, ACES focuses on nutrition and education issues. By placing greater information access, tutors, and networking into communities we complement existing services and encourage grass-roots community responsibility.

Mission: To provide service and support services, counseling, professional consultations, education and training, life and social skill development, crisis intervention, and domestic violence shelter care to individuals and families who have experienced domestic violence in otero and lincoln counties, nm. Programs: To provided needed services to those who have experienced domestic violence.

Mission: White sands habitat for humanity builds and renovates homes in the greater alamogordo, nm area through voulunteer labor and with the assistance of future homeowners. Habitat houses are sold to low income families at below cost and financed by habitat with no interest mortgages. Habitat's program is funded through contributions, in-kind donations and grants from indiviudals, foundations, corporations, and government agencies, and sales of donated merchandise at its restore location. Programs: Homes were constructed or remodeled and transferred to low income working families, and the restore operates to sell new and gently used donated building supplies, household appliances, fixtures and furnishings.

Mission: Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat invites people from all faiths and walks of life to work together in partnership, building houses with families in need.
