SUMMARY:Dance & Movement Therapy
DESCRIPTION:Dance and Movement Therapy offers a powerful way to build resilience and promote healing through the expressive potential of movement. By engaging in culturally rooted dance practices\, participants can explore self-expression\, celebrate their heritage\, and form a deep connection with themselves and their community. This therapeutic approach helps individuals develop confidence\, embrace cultural pride\, and navigate personal challenges in a supportive and inclusive environment. Movement serves as a bridge to mental well-being\, cultural integration\, and strengthened communal ties\, fostering holistic growth and empowerment. \nThe African Folk Dance & Movement Therapy program highlights traditional dances that blend rhythmic storytelling with call-and-response techniques to create a rich\, immersive experience. These communal dances alleviate stress and anxiety while fostering a sense of belonging and interpersonal connection. By encouraging participants to share their own cultural dance forms\, the program nurtures cross-cultural understanding and unity. Through guided workshops that combine movement\, storytelling\, and reflective discussion\, individuals are empowered to connect their cultural histories to their present identities in a safe and nurturing space. \nVenue: Garfield Community Center \nDates: July 19th and August 23rd\, 2025 \nTime: 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm \nRegister Here
